First Aid Course - Test:"Do you know these birds?"

FIRST AID COURSE

A basic course on Pre-Hospitalization Assistance took place on July 6, 12 and 13, 2005, at Fazenda Tamanduá. Once again, we had the support of the Fire Brigade / 3rd Fire Fighter Group, represented by lieutenant Saulo Alves Laurentino and sergeants Manoel Carlos Gomes de Moraes and Severlânio Medeiros de Araújo.

In the instructors’ experience, a large number of people who die as a result of a physical trauma or sudden illness could be saved. It would be enough to apply correctly to such people basic first aid knowledge, starting at the scene of the accident, during transportation, and up to the victim’s arrival at hospital

The teaching of basic life support techniques is extremely important in a country like Brazil, where death rates and sequels caused by accidents are high and where the majority of the population is ill prepared to prevent accidents and to render first aid. “Accidents can happen to all of us, and if people are correctly and rapidly assisted, we may save lives, or at least minimize pain and future health problems.”

It is important to remember that in Brazil all citizens are legally obliged to assist the victims of accidents or sudden illness. If they do not do so, it is considered omission of assistance.

As Mocó Agropecuária Ltda. is a company situated in the rural area, this course was specially focused on assistance relating to our situation, for example, employees working in the fields who may be poisoned by venomous animals.

On this occasion, the care we should take in the working environment and at home was also dealt with.

The first two commandments of first aid: KEEP THE VICTIM ALIVE and PRESERVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE.

This course was divided into three stages:

a) The theoretical stage, stressing themes such as burns, electrical shocks, drowning, accidents involving venomous animals, poisoning, different wounds, immobilization and transportation of accident victims;

b) The second stage: Introduction and Presentation of the Pre-Hospitalization Aid Protocol (The ABC of Trauma)

c) And finally, the third stage, which involved simulations of real situations and assessment of students in the performance of their tasks

And what did our workers think of it?

I am grateful to Fazenda Tamanduá for the opportunity to participate in the first aid course. We learned a great deal in those three days, during which we had theoretical and practical classes on how to act during pre-hospitalization assistance. Thanks a lot!”

(Rogéria Jordânia da Silva Assis, Food Operator / Cheese Factory).

Congratulations to Mocó Agropecuária for this course, to the workers and instructors and all those who made their contribution for this event to take place. See you soon!

These are some of the more than 146 bird species registered at Fazenda Tamanduá.
Fazenda Tamanduá is a refuge for wild life, permitting a great number of species and specimens using that area for breeding, feeding and shelter to rise.

Have a good day!
