The Tamanduá Trio was a hit during the June Feast-days celebrating the Centennial of Patos

After participating in the competition for pé-de-serra (‘foot-of-the-mountain’) Trios, organized by the Patos Town Hall, in which they won second place, the Tamanduá Trio was invited to play twice on the main stage at peak times, alongside some of the great names of popular music, national or local, such as Elba Ramalho, Zézé de Camargo and Luciano, the band Limão com Mel or “Accordion Pinto”. They were a great success with their varied repertoire, including many of their own pieces. In addition to this prestigious contract, they played in several other places and towns, with the same success. 

The Dentist

The Mobile Dentistry Unit of the Patos office of SESI (Industry Social Service) visited Fazenda Tamanduá once more for around two months.During this period, Dr. Mércia came every day from Patos in order to attend the farm’s workers and their families in this specially well-equipped trailer. In addition to dental treatment, fillings and extractions, Dr. Mércia gave some talks at the school on oral hygiene and decay prevention, addressed mainly to the children. 

The first visit had been made two years before and Dr Mércia was very pleased to see that all the people attended at that time had far fewer problems and that the preventive measures had been strictly carried out.

With regard to the children at school, the program was so successful that they were invited to make a presentation at the Santa Terezinha municipal schools in September, in order to explain the proper way to brush one’s teeth and to pass on everything they had learnt and put into practice so effectively! It was a great success!  Dr. Mércia’s REPORT:
The work carried out by the SESI Dentistry Program at Fazenda Tamanduá “resulted in about 180 dental consultations, amounting to 780 treatments among the workers of Mocó Agropecuária and Misú Irrigação Ltda. (the latter has its headquarters at the farm, and has 25 workers).

It should be observed that in the year 2000, when the unit attended those companies, the workers showed an average rate of 3.85 teeth affected by decay, and in 2003 this number was reduced to 1.61 per worker, thus achieving a satisfactory reduction ratio.”
