Taking
advantage of the invitation and the almost perfect organization of
the Brazil-Germany Chamber of Commerce, Fazenda Tamanduá decided to
take part in the BioFach, a famous fair that, for four days every
year, brings together all the agents of the world trade in organic
products in the city of Nuremberg. |
|
The
BioFach is a unique opportunity to meet producers and traders from
all parts of the world, to see the strength of the organic movement
and the incredible variety of products offered.
Aware
of the strong competition in the market for its products, Mocó
Agropecuária Ltda. has always tried to add value to its brand-name
and its products by means of quality and great creativity.
We therefore took advantage of this event in order to test a
new presentation of our dehydrated mangoes, which called the
attention of two important buyers, especially for a product line
designed for children. |

In
the same way, the concept and receptivity of a “diet” line of
honey, containing other healthy organic elements such as guaraná,
were tested. |
|
The
strong demand for certified fresh mangoes was confirmed by several
contacts, coming mainly from representatives from Germany, France,
Holland and England.
The success of this fair is impressive, and considering the large
number of farmers and processors, as well as organic products
already existing in Brazil, one may conclude that there is room for
a
BioFach Fair in Brazil.

A
slightly bitter finding is that the philosophical, environmental and
social ideals of the origins of our movement are overwhelmed by the
negotiations, which follow the hard laws of capitalism, involving
large amounts of money … I wonder whether this is in fact our
future? I wonder if Brazil, with its exuberant natural resources and
experiencing the political and social scenario of the new government,
may be the “third path” that
will allow organic products to be inserted into the famous “market”,
in a manner fair to all? |

29,500
visitors and 1,971
exhibitors were present at the BioFach 2003 in Nuremberg. This
number has been growing every year and confirming the BioFach’s
status as the largest international fair for the organic sector.

Germany’s
Minister for Agriculture and Consumer Protection, Ms. Renata Künast,
opened the Nuremberg BioFach for the second time. The French
Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Hervé Gaymard, sent a representative,
who stressed the importance of organic products in his country.
Every year, BioFach elects a country that has stood out in the
organic sector, and in 2003 France was the country chosen. Brazil
was present, and the stand organized by the Brazil-Germany Chamber
of Commerce included 24 exhibitors, Fazenda Tamanduá being one of
them. Also in the course of 2003, the first BioFach event in South
America will be held, and Brazil was chosen to host the BioFach
Conference.
