The Way Towards a Demeter Certificate

Nutrition Facts
Fazenda Tamandua's Cheeses

Following our resolution, we began the application of biodynamic preparations that should encompass, this year, all of the farm’s cultivated areas.

The first to be used was Preparation 500, horn-dung, which is produced at the farm, and propitiates the development of mango-tree leaves and, in the grazing ground, favors a new sprouting, acting through the earth forces rather than of the substances.

During the month of March, the Preparation was applied on the 27 hectares of mango-trees, 8 ha of the grass irrigated by sprinkling and on the stables where the organic compost is made.

In April we will apply it on the recently developed grazing grounds and, depending on the weather, in other pastures.

Prepared 500 applied on mango trees.

MB4 added on the top of organic compost placed on furrows opened
at each side of the mango trees.

The organic compost, in a rate of 8 t/ha, was spread in furrows opened at each side of the mango trees, in the damp strip created by localized irrigation, adding in the act 300 kilos of MB4 and 200 kilos of superphosphate of Irêcé.

The Ministry of Health has recently demanded that all food products show nutrition information in their labels, with the exception of some products, such as water and beverages.

The new labels of Fazenda Tamanduá cheeses, containing Nutrition Facts were developed with the object of clarifying the consumer about the composition of our products. The importance of the information of Nutrition Facts is that it elucidates what kind of food the consumer  is taking home, and, consequently, how much the consumer  providing his family with a healthy food.

Fazenda Tamanduá produces three kinds of cheese: Saint Paulin, Reblochon (both of French origin) and curdled cheese. The labels with the  Nutrition Facts are differentiated by colors, as follows: red for Saint Paulin, blue for Reblochon, and green for the Curdled Cheese.

This way our organic products, certified by IBD, are even more complete, providing our clients with quality products, not only in the nutritional aspect, but also in the productive, since our organic certificate is a guarantee that our products are free from insecticides and agrotoxins and do not attack the environment.
