Training Course for Food Handlers

24 employees that work directly with food products, in the Fruit Shed and the Cheese Factory, participated in the Training Course for Food Handlers, held at the headquarters of Tamanduá Farm from 3 to 5 December, 2001. The Course, divided into two modules, began with Basic Notions of the Microbiology of Foods, in which we were able to study and learn a little about the most relevant microorganisms that contaminate foods.

In the second module, we emphasized the importance of personal hygiene, as well as the principles of hygiene in the working environment, always with a view to fighting against the contamination of food products. The pupils, by means of assessments and group dynamics, were able to demonstrate in practice some of the topics studied during the course. In the opinion of the participants, it is very important to hold courses of this type, because it is a way to keep informed, and also to learn about new things.

According to Pierre Landolt's talk, given at the end of the course, Tamanduá Farm will encourage this type of event, and is already thinking of organizing other courses in the very near future, with other themes, to be held at the Farm itself.
